Camel Racing has
less to do with sport than with preserving a deep-rooted part of Arabian
heritage and culture. The rapid transition of the Gulf from desert states
to oil-rich modern countries left many centuries-old traditions in its
wake.

One was the role
of the camel which once provided transportation, food, shelter and prestige
for the desert tribes. They also provided entertainment through racing
and it is this revival which ensures the camel a continued role in modern
Arab life.
Camel racing today
is flourishing and this is evidenced by the building of specially-constructed
courses such as the Al Lisaili race track in Dubai.

Arabian Profile
made widespread use of Glass Fibre Reinforced Polyester (GRP) to provide
a range of panels for the stadium grandstand, VIP majilis building and
entrance canopies. These included bull nose panels, decorative fins
and feature panels for gables.
APL also supplied Reynobond soffit panels for all
buildings.
This project was
a construction milestone in the UAE – marking the first known
use of GRP for structural as well as feature applications.
