Ever since opening
in 1992, Dubai’s Burjuman Centre has been a jewel in the crown
of Middle East shopping, characterized by top brands, upmarket custom
and relaxed ambience.
It is a “must see” for overseas visitors and a major focus
of the annual Dubai Shopping Festival.
In 2004 the Mall
began a huge expansion project designed to turn it into a “total
destination” incorporating luxury apartments, a business centre,
conference hall and sporting facilities.
The completed development
of 4.4 million square feet increased the number of outlets by 50% and
almost tripled available retail space.

provided and installed 5,900m2 of Reynobond cladding, 4,300m2 of wooden
features and 2,500m2 of Glass Fibre Reinforced Polyester (GRP) twisted
panels.
APL created insulated
decking, timber ceiling works, Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC)
works and feature facade panels, also in GRP. Their crowning achievement
was the Centre’s dome - 20 metres across, free standing, insulated
and water proofed.
Manufactured from
GRP honeycomb in a special APL process, the result was a structure so
light that it could be lifted from street level to roof position in
only 20 minutes.
