The name Swarovski
has been synonymous with crystal for over a century and it was inevitable
that a sparkling solution would be sought for the frontage of the company’s
Middle East headquarters in Jebel Ali.
A collaboration between Swarovski
International and Arabian Profile, in association with Glass House,
harnessed the special skills of all three enterprises to produce a truly
memorable facade.
Client: Swarovski International
Architect: Badri & Bensouda
Main Contractor: Giant Star Contracting
Completed: 1996
Arabian Profile manufactured
and installed special honeycomb panels with cut-outs which were then
carved into glass panels featuring 488,000 Swarovski crystals affixed
to a mirror on the backside of the glass.
The result is a rich, elegant
and sophisticated background literally reflecting the qualities of the
client’s brand.
